    Program Description

Backpacking in the Blue Mountains of Eastern Washington is the quintessential outdoor camping experience. The trip cost includes: transportation, backpacking/camping gear and meals. The group will meet Saturday night to review camping lists, pack food and finalize the hiking itinerary. On Sunday morning, students will travel to the trailhead and start backpacking. Participants will camp and travel through the national forest while exploring the landscape. The group will hike out of the Blue Mountains and head back to Pullman on Wednesday.

Participants will learn about the local ecosystems of the Blue Mountains and issues that have impacted this area. Through the outdoor activities, individuals will learn and develop leadership skills. This is an excellent opportunity for future students to ask questions about student life at Washington State University and the many outdoor opportunities the Palouse has to offer.
