The Institute is an interactive, energizing event designed to help participants improve in the essential skills of teamwork and communication as well as develop organizational and personal goals. Institute attendees will participate in experiential learning activities, interact in facilitated workshops and learn about a variety of leadership skills and topics. Topics will include goal-setting, working in groups and communication skills. A guiding principle of our programs is "experiential learning", meaning that programs are designed to help participants "learn by doing." Teambuilding exercises, movie clips and creating leadership personality profiles are some of the planned activities. Participants will also receive materials they can use after the Institute and invitations to future programs.
All meals will be on campus. Be sure to contact us in advance at WSU.leadership@wsu.edu if you have special dietary needs.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided. Feel free, however, to bring any of your favorite energy foods.
All materials and supplies necessary for your participation in the Institute will be provided. You are certainly welcome, however, to bring your personal favorite backpack/totebag, notebook, etc. and any resources about your personal leadership experiences or your organization(s) that might help facilitators better help you in your leadership plans for the future.
Dress casually. The Institute will be interactive and will involve long hours. Be sure to bring shorts and tennis shoes for some outdoor activities. Layers and an umbrella are also advisable given the unpredictable weather.
Wear comfortable shoes. Bring a light jacket or sweatshirt for evening and early morning weather.
